Frequently Asked Questions – NCRGEA Vision Discount Program
Q. Why am I receiving this Vision Discount Program card?
A. The new partnership between Superior Vision, a leading managed vision care company, and the NCRGEA gives you a vision discount program card at no charge as part of your membership in the NCRGEA. You will also have the ability to enroll in a voluntary, fully-insured vision insurance plan through Superior Vision, effective 1/1/10.
Q. Why isn’t my name on the card?
A. As this card is for a discount program only and there is no need to verify eligibility or benefits, it is not necessary to put your name on the card. However, when you choose the fully insured plan, you will receive a card with your name and identification number on it.
Q. How can I get another card?
A. To receive a new or replacement card, please call Superior Vision’s Customer Service at 800-507-3800.
Q. As an NCRGEA member, am I the only one who can use this Discount Program card?
A. While membership in the NCRGEA is required to receive this Discount Program card, you and any of your dependents may use this to take advantage of the discounts. It is important to show your Vision Discount Program card to ensure you receive these discounts.
Q. Can I get services from any eye care provider?
A. You must see a participating provider to receive your discounts. You can find out which providers accept discounts by looking on Superior Vision’s website at www.superiorvision.com or by calling their Customer Service at 800-507-3800. Some discounts vary by provider but are the best possible discounts available to Superior Vision members.
Q. What discount features are available?
A. You are eligible for discounts off the retail charges for a routine eye exam, eyeglass frames, a variety of lens upgrades and add-ons, and elective contact lenses. Services must be obtained from a provider indicated in Superior Vision’s provider directory as participating in our discount plan as there are some providers who do not. You may find these on the website under Locate a Provider.
Q. Can I use my Vision Discount Program card if I have other insurance?
A. Yes. The current Vision Discount Program Card is provided to you at no charge because you are a member of NCRGEA. The Association is also offering you the opportunity to enroll in a fully insured plan with substantial benefits that will be effective January 1, 2010.
Q. Should I sign up for the fully-insured vision insurance with Superior Vision?
A. Superior Vision’s vision plan provides you with insured coverage for eye exams, lenses, glasses, contact lenses, contact lens fitting exams, and so much more. Many of these benefits are covered in full after small co-pays, and have generous retail allowances for frames and contact lenses. Comprehensive eye exams are critical components for overall health, and vision insurance is your key. Remember that enrolling in the new Superior Vision plan won’t affect any other vision coverage that you might have. If you wish to make a change to your current plan, you will need to notify the plan separately
Q. How do I sign up for the fully-insured vision plan?
A. NCRGEA will mail enrollment packets in early September. Open enrollment for the voluntary vision plan will take place from September 15 – November 10 for coverage beginning January 1, 2010.
Q. Do I throw away my discount card once I get my Superior Vision Plan card?
A. You may keep and use the Vision Discount Program card for as long as you are a NCRGEA member; you may use the card for any extra purchases incurred after you use the full benefit of your vision insurance. There are no limitations to the number of times you may use the card, and there is no expiration date. It is very important that you bring the new vision plan card with you on every visit to your eye care provider.
Q. Who do I call for an explanation of all these vision programs?
A. Superior Vision has an award-winning Customer Service team that is available at 800-507-3800 to help you with any questions. You may also visit their website at www.superiorvision.com to learn more about your plan, and to learn about keeping your eyes and vision healthy.
Q. Are there any limitations on the frame selection when using the discounts?
A. Unless otherwise prohibited by the manufacturer, the frame discount may be applied as long as you seek services from a participating discount plan provider.
Q. Can discounts be applied toward the purchase of prescription sunglasses?
A. Unless otherwise prohibited by the manufacturer, the discounts for prescription sunglasses can be applied as long as you seek services from a participating discount plan provider.
