For decades, state government retirees could count on their elected officials to provide inflation-fighting cost of living adjustments. Not so today. Retirees continue to lose pension value from the lack of cost of living adjustments, with scarce bonuses, economic uncertainty and rising inflation.
For the more than 300,000 government retirees across North Carolina, our elected leaders owe it to these deserving men and women to find commonsense solutions to provide cost of living adjustments. I stand with my fellow State retirees and demand that Governor Roy Cooper, our locally elected municipal and county officials, and the members of the North Carolina General Assembly make government retiree quality of life a top priority.
